Cllr Barbara Fitzsimon has been named as Mayor of Welwyn Hatfield for the upcoming 2018/19 year.
At a ceremony in Campus West, Barbara was given the prestigious honour and has already set out her plans for the next year.
Barbara commented; "I am absolutely honoured by the position bestowed on me. It is not one I take lightly and will do all I can to make a difference to those that need it. It is going to be a very busy year and I hope at the end of it the residents will feel that I have done service to them and this great area we live in. Thank you."
Cllr Roger Trigg was then made deputy mayor in front of colleagues and peers. Roger said, "I am delighted to accept this position. It is one that comes with a great responsibility and I look forward to supporting the mayor in her endeavours. We are incredibly lucky to live in such a great area and I want to do all I can to protect it"
We are sure both Barbara and Roger will do a great job in representing Welwyn Hatfield, just do not forget to practice your ribbon cutting skills!
