For the past 3 months, members of the local community have been knitting endlessly for the Wel-Hats campaign in which we aim to send out as many hand knitted hats for troops serving in Afghanistan this winter on the last winter tour. So far we have over 2,000 hats to send out and the number is still rising.
Local MP, Grant Shapps, will be here at Maynard house on the day to help us pack up the hats between 12.30 and 1 but we will be packing from Midday so any help will be hugely appreciated. Earlier this week, Grant said ‘this has been a monumental success and my appreciation goes out to all those that have helped us achieve this huge number of hats. It just goes to show that there is still community spirit and that the people of Welwyn Hatfield are behind our armed forces 100%.’
