Brandon Lewis MP, the minister responsible for the redevelopment of town centres and high streets has recently paid a visit to Hatfield town centre with local MP Grant Shapps and Deputy Mayor Councillor Lynne Sparks.

Minister Brandon Lewis said “It’s always great to see first-hand the rejuvenating effects of the Portas Pilot and how it can help to transform town centres back into playing a key role in local life”.

The trio were very pleased to see the progress being made on the regeneration of the town centre as part of the Portas Pilot scheme. The local community have been delighted with the improvements, and were pleased with the brighter atmosphere and new buildings. Residents have also been enjoying the new community events which have increased in number since the project began.

Grant said “There is still a long way to go, but like every Hatfield resident I am relieved that we’re now heading in the right direction”.
