Local Panshanger residents had the opportunity to visit Grant Shapps MP in Parliament yesterday evening. Led by Councillors Darren Bennet & Terry Mitchinson, residents were able to grill their elected representatives about both the Houses of Westminster and the local issues facing residents in Welwyn Hatfield.
After a Q&A session, residents were given a personal tour by Grant of the palace, showing locals both Central Lobby and the House of Commons itself. Grant commented "It is so important that residents can see the importance of the history of democracy in our country and how the votes they cast have on the direction we take. From where Charles I was thrown out to the assassination of Spencer Percival over 200 years ago, the history of our political home never fails to humble me every day."
